Full-Day Private Tour · Vis, Biševo & Blue Cave Route
Blue Cave Private Tour Vis & Biševo from Makarska
Long-Range Adriatic Experience
One of the most iconic Adriatic journeys — the Blue Cave on Biševo and the island of Vis — experienced on a carefully curated private speedboat route from Makarska.
This is not a typical island-hopping day. The route reaches far into open Adriatic waters to connect Makarska with Biševo and Vis — combining a Blue Cave visit with hidden bays and a full-day rhythm shaped by real sea conditions.
This is a full-day private experience.
Pricing depends on the boat you choose.
Important route note
This route crosses open Adriatic waters. Around 70% of days offer ideal conditions, while 30% may require adjustments due to sea conditions or Blue Cave closures.
This route covers a longer stretch of open Adriatic water. For that reason, the Blue Cave & Vis Tour is available exclusively with our Comfort and Luxury boat options — ensuring stability, space and a far smoother ride throughout the day.

08:30
Departing from Makarska
We depart from Makarska at 08:30 instead of 09:00 because of the high popularity of the Blue Cave. By leaving earlier, we head directly toward Biševo and significantly reduce the chance of longer waiting times upon arrival. It is the smoothest way to begin this long-range Adriatic experience — with an elegant early departure and the cave as the first priority of the route.

Blue Cave — Biševo
The most iconic natural light phenomenon of the Adriatic — a sea cave where sunlight reflects through an underwater opening and fills the interior with an unreal, silver-blue glow. Reached after roughly 2.5 hours of open-sea crossing from Makarska, this is always our first priority stop of the day.

Important Note
We head to the Blue Cave first because it is the biggest timing bottleneck of the day. During peak season — roughly from 15 July to 20 August — we do not recommend the Blue Cave stop for guests who want a relaxed, unhurried day. The reason is simple and honest: this is when the entire Dalmatia goes to Blue Cave. Tour operators from Split depart as early as 06:45 just to arrive first. Waiting time for cave entry during this window can regularly reach 2–2.5 hours, with dozens of boats queued in the open sun outside Biševo. It is not a pleasant wait.
This does not mean Blue Cave is not worth seeing — it absolutely is. But real expectations matter more than promotional copy. If you are visiting outside peak window or are happy to treat the wait as part of the day, Blue Cave is a genuinely special experience. If a relaxed luxury day on the water is the priority, we will honestly recommend an adjusted route.
Please also note that Blue Cave entrance tickets are not included in the tour price. Current pricing ranges from approximately €18–€24 per person depending on season and demand.
Entry is only possible via small authorised local boats operating at the cave — the natural entrance is extremely narrow and no private vessel can enter. Even when sea conditions look ideal at departure, the final cave status can change on the way due to open-sea swell at Biševo.

Why is Blue Cave so famous?
It is not just a cave stop — it is a natural light performance. Sunlight enters through an underwater opening at a precise angle, reflects from the white sandy seabed, and fills the cave with a surreal silver-blue glow that shifts in intensity as the light changes throughout the day.

The entrance is tiny.
The cave mouth is so narrow that visitors must transfer into small local boats to enter. That final approach — gliding through a dramatic rock passage into a completely different world of colour — is itself part of the experience.

Best time for the glow?
The cave shows its most intense blue between approximately 10:00 and 12:00, which is exactly why we structure the entire route around early arrival at Biševo. Miss the angle, and the effect is noticeably weaker.

A little history.
Blue Cave was first documented for a wider audience in the 19th century by the Austrian geographer Baron Eugen von Ransonet, who described the blue light in remarkable detail. Over 150 years later, first impressions remain the same: most guests go quiet for a moment when they see the colour inside.

Photography tip.
Phones usually capture the colour best with exposure slightly lowered and as little movement as possible. A short video often shows the shimmering reflections better than a still — the light is in constant, gentle motion.

Our honest recommendation.
If Blue Cave is your number-one goal, choose a day with calm sea conditions and avoid the busiest core of high season. If a more relaxed luxury day by water is the priority, the rest of the Vis/Biševo route can feel even more rewarding on its own.

Komiža — Vis Island
After the spectacle of Biševo, Komiža is the perfect exhale. One of the most authentically preserved fishing villages on the Croatian coast, this small harbour town on the western shore of Vis has kept its character entirely intact — stone houses, weathered fishing boats and a promenade that has barely changed in a century. Since you arrive around lunch, it is also one of the most naturally timed stops of the day for a proper sit-down meal before the afternoon swim stops.

🦞
Konoba Bako
The most celebrated table in Komiža — a terrace right above the sea, ancient Roman amphora collection recovered by the founder himself, and fresh lobster, scampi buzara and octopus in red wine that regulars return to year after year. Reserve ahead in peak season.

🎬
Konoba Jastožera
Built over the old lobster docks — tables literally sit above the water, live lobsters in the tank below, and a very recognisable archway from the filming of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Truffle pasta and lobster buzara are the standouts.

Mala Stiniva Bay — Vis
What you see today was once a cave. During the last ice age, when sea levels were roughly 120 metres lower than today, watercourses carved a karst canyon deep into the southern limestone of Vis. A vast underground cave formed beneath it — and thousands of years ago, the ceiling of that cave collapsed. The cliffs you see rising on both sides are the original cave walls, still standing. The narrow stone gateway facing the sea is where the cave entrance once was. The rounded white pebbles on the beach below are pieces of the cave ceiling, smoothed by millennia of waves.
Stiniva was named Europe's best beach back in 2016 — and it remains a protected natural monument since 1967. The cliffs reach up to 35 metres and create a natural amphitheatre of light and silence. Underwater visibility exceeds 30 metres.
Approachable only by boat. The bay is inaccessible by road from the sea — you anchor outside the narrow stone gates and swim through, or we bring you as close as the depth allows. The approach itself, through the gate and into the calm of the bay, is one of those moments that stays with you.

Choose Your Afternoon Route
After Mala Stiniva, the day opens into two distinct directions. Both are beautiful — they simply offer a different kind of beauty. Let us know which atmosphere fits your day best.
Two Routes
Option 1 — Town Atmosphere
Hvar Town — Island Hvar
Often called the Adriatic's second most iconic town after Dubrovnik, Hvar blends historic Venetian elegance with a world-famous yachting scene. From Fortica views high above the harbour to waterfront cafés lined with superyachts, the atmosphere here shifts effortlessly between heritage and modern luxury — and you explore it entirely at your own pace.

Why is Hvar Town so iconic?
The Spanish Fortress — locally known as Fortica — rises high above the harbour, offering one of the most photographed panoramic views in the Adriatic.

Hvar's main square is among the largest historic piazzas on the Croatian coast, surrounded by Venetian palaces, a 17th-century theatre and waterfront promenades lined with luxury yachts throughout summer.
Beyond the glamour, Hvar has a deep maritime history — sailors once navigated by the same harbour lights that now welcome some of the world's most recognisable superyachts.
For dining, Mediterraneo offers a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, while Gariful remains one of the island's most famous fish restaurants, known for its prime marina location.
Whether you climb Fortica, wander the stone streets or simply enjoy the harbour energy — Hvar Town adapts entirely to your rhythm.

Option 2 — Swim & Island Atmosphere
Pakleni Islands — Island Hvar
If the afternoon calls for more water rather than cobblestones, the Pakleni Islands deliver. We drop anchor in one of the archipelago's most celebrated coves — Marinkovac — where turquoise water meets an unmistakably glamorous scene of sleek yachts. A final swim in glassy, warm Adriatic before the ride home.
